Waiting to Dance
Isculpted this figure first in oil based clay as a maquette for stone carving (thus, "She Waits", for the stone!). I made a mold for an edition in bronze and have begun using the mold to cast clays. The clay sculptures are each unique by adding or subtracting clay and surface finish. Here, the gorgeous carbon reduction that occurs during the raku firing along with the lustrous mineral glaze dresses her up and tells me, "She's waiting to dance".
